Pillows for sale

If you have a decent mattress, you’ll want to complete your beautiful sleep with a quality pillow. The “wrong” pillow can not only cause discomfort or neck pain, but it can also affect the quality of your sleep, which is not ideal if you want to sleep tight – and right.

At Dial a Bed we know that choosing the best pillow to sleep on can be confusing, which is why we can guide you on what best suits your preference and comfort levels. Just as we take customers on the “comfort journey” when they’re choosing a bed or a mattress, we do the same with pillows, ensuring you find the perfect fit. The best pillow is the one that you love sleeping on, that’s comfortable, and which completes your sleep experience.

We’ve also got you covered with a huge range of pillows for sale in-store. Don’t forget to protect your investments – buy pillow protectors to prolong their life, and to help keep allergens at bay.

How to choose a pillow?

Firstly, to test if you need a new pillow, fold your current one in half, and then release it. If it doesn’t bounce back into place when you release it, then it needs replacing.

Your next step is to determine what type of pillow filling you like. There’s no right answer – it depends on your preference. Some filling options include:

  • Memory Foam: This is firm to gently firm, and moulds the head and neck, giving good support.
  • Feathers: These make for a firm pillow, and adjusts to your shape
  • Down: This provides medium firmness, and is softer than normal feathers
  • Polyester: This is the least durable of the pillow types, but provides good support.

Next, consider your sleeping style, and whether you sleep on your back, side or stomach, as this will determine the most suitable height of pillow for you. Side sleepers should opt for a thick pillow that is firm to medium, and keeps the head and neck in line with the spine. Back sleepers should go with a medium-sized pillow with medium support, so that the head doesn’t extend too far back, or roll forwards. Stomach sleepers require little support and should choose a flat and soft pillow to align the neck and spine.

How many pillows should I sleep with?

While some people sleep with more than one pillow, the recommended guideline is just one. If it’s comfortable enough,  it’s all you need to support your head and keep your neck aligned with your spine.

Lastly, and most importantly, ensure that the pillow you choose is comfortable – try lying on it in different positions, and ask yourself if it will enhance your sleep, or if you need to consider something else.
